"Penguin Day" in the 2nd Grade!

Today is "Penguin Day" in the 2nd grade! The kids get to dress in comfy clothes, bring sleeping bags, blankets, and LOTS of books to read. They are also welcome to bring a "theme" treat to share with the rest of the class. Here is what Claire and I came up with - Penguin Cupcakes! Yes, they're a little silly, but perfect for 2nd graders!

07/19/09 - All three girls were playing Brain Age 2 and competing against each other in a drawing contest. They were to draw a Medusa. Claire showed off her rendition and someone said, "Your Medusa looks mad." To which Claire responded, "Well . . . 'I'd' be angry if 'I' had snakes in my hair!"

07/12/09 - Emili and McKenna were so excited to go to their first Junior High youth group sleepover. We were casually discussing the event and how much fun they were going to have. Suddenly, Emili's face went very serious and she grabbed my elbow and exclaimed, "Dude! I have a Clifford sleeping bag!"

06/20/09 - I (Michelle) made a wonderful German Chocolate cake. Claire had a nice large piece in a deep bowl with homemade ice cream on the side. She had "dressed" up her ice cream very nicely with chocolate sauce and chocolate chips. I said to Claire, "You know how to do it up!" Claire said, "No, I know how to do chocolate!"

06/20/09 - Chris looked at Emili and said, "When you grow up, you can be my consultant." To which Emili replies, "Is that where I insult you all the time?"

04/21/09 - As we are bringing McKenna's hamster home, Claire asks if the hamster gets car sick (because our dog does). I told her probably not. Claire then asked, "What does hamster puke look like?"

04/21/09 - McKenna declared this morning, "Apples get on my nerves."

03/22/09 - We were playing Go Fish as a family - with Star Wars playing cards of course - and everytime Claire did 'not' have a card someone asked for, she exclaimed, "Goldfish!"

03/22/09 - Emili said, "I think I'm going to wash my hands . . . They smell like germs."
